If you bought an EasyCap and it’s crashing your system, do yourself a favor: try it without the extension cord that it came with. Does it work now?. What did we learn today? — to use properly shielded usb 2.0 cables and not the unshielded crap they give you with most cheap devices.
By the way, in your drivers cd look for StkATVAp.exe — and several other bundled tools, they’re handy for troubleshooting and testing your setup. No need to install Ulead Video Studio either, since you can use VLC or even Windows Movie Maker to capture a live stream.
Now you won’t be calling it easycrap anymore!

As I previously mentioned, I decided to migrate into a Linux based host, for the obvious reasons (stability, flexibility, etc) Usually you get more for less in Linux, and that counts when it comes to Hosting… However, since I got this service, I’ve only been able to “use” it once or twice, reason being they first had a major carrier issue that lead all of their websites, including their own, to be offline for 8 hours, yes, eight hours!… After 24 hours, Some magic spell was cast on the server I’m hosting at, since both hard drives failed miserably (at least, that’s what they say “RAID failure”; I say they don’t even use RAID to save $$$)… Continue reading “Hosting nightmares and deja vu.” »
