Hosting nightmares and deja vu.

As I previously mentioned, I decided to migrate into a Linux based host, for the obvious reasons (stability, flexibility, etc) Usually you get more for less in Linux, and that counts when it comes to Hosting… However, since I got this service, I’ve only been able to “use” it once or twice, reason being they first had a major carrier issue that lead all of their websites, including their own, to be offline for 8 hours, yes, eight hours!… After 24 hours, Some magic spell was cast on the server I’m hosting at, since both hard drives failed miserably (at least, that’s what they say “RAID failure”; I say they don’t even use RAID to save $$$)… More…

Server migration completed.

Finally, migrated to a Linux host. Much needed, specially due to the flexibility gained over a *nix system.

Too bad, however, that most hosting companies are not prepared for migration tasks, ie. they make you migrate everything by yourself. That’s ok, on some cases, although, when they take 48 hours to process the administrative side and another 24hs for the technical side… It gets a little annoying, indeed. More…
